4 LinkedIn Hacks You Can't Miss At All.
A great LinkedIn profile = more opportunities. This blog contains 4 actionable tips that take your profile from being good to GREAT!
Work Hard, Play Smart.
Yet another day you're scrolling through LinkedIn and see people getting jobs through it. Ever wondered what these people do differently?
Do you too feel that despite having a decent profile, you haven't yet landed many offers? Or are you looking forward to creating one that automatically attracts more opportunities?
I'm sharing those 4 awesome hacks which guarantees more offers!
Suppose you had a job interview today and I asked you to carry some untidy clothes with messy hair? A big NO, isn't it? Because you know, how you present yourself matters a lot. Similarly, your LinkedIn profile is your presence on the internet. And how you sell yourself there determines what opportunities you can land in the future.
A great LinkedIn profile = more opportunities. I'm sharing those 4 actionable tips that take your profile from being good to GREAT!
1) Turn off 'People also Viewed' feature
How would you feel if someone came to hire you but at the last moment found someone else for the position? 💔
The same applies to your LinkedIn too. Having the 'People also Viewed' setting turned on is like, 'Hey, thanks for checking my profile, but here are some other people you can check out'. (crickets)
This feature can distract the recruiter from your profile, so turn off the setting right away:
• On the homepage of your profile, select your profile icon at the top of your screen.
• Select 'Accounts Preferences' and then navigate to 'Site Preferences.'
• Select 'OFF' next to 'People Also Viewed.'
2) Fill your profile with the right keywords.
Add your skills and industry-specific keywords to your title, about, experience, projects, and skills sections.
Having the right keywords on your profile gives the impression that you're an experienced sailor and can do the job well. This will help you to rank higher in LinkedIn searches, get more profile views, and eventually more opportunities!
But now you may ask, where to get keywords from? You can gather them from job descriptions of your aspiring roles posted by reputed firms.
3) Add industry
Oh my god, you're missing multiple opportunities already, if you've not yet provided the industry you belong to. Because when a recruiter searches for people belonging to a specific industry, you wouldn't ever show up.
So add your industry right away:
• On the homepage of your profile, select your profile icon at the top of your screen.
• Select 'Accounts Preferences' and then navigate to 'Site Preferences.'
• Select the option 'Name, location, and industry.'
• Scroll down and select the appropriate industry from the 'Industry' drop-down menu.
4) Open to work - only for recruiters
This LinkedIn feature can constantly attract opportunities because recruiters can see that you're open to work. Seems a great deal! ⚡
You can turn this on by:
• On the homepage of your profile, select your profile icon at the top of your screen.
• Select "View profile."
• Click the "Open to" button below your name and title, then select "Finding a new job." Add the other details.
• Select open to work for 'Recruiters only'.
I suggest turning it on only for recruiters, because if you choose to notify all LinkedIn members, you might get spams and the attention of less ethical recruiters/people.
Selling yourself effectively is definitely an art, and LinkedIn can become a gateway to numerous opportunities if you optimize it well. Meanwhile, network, add value, build connections, and enjoy the process! ⚡
Do add your thoughts or any questions in the comments. Have a great day!
